At 15, most teenagers are navigating the halls of high school, dreaming of their futures, and making memories with friends. But for Chanté, a resilient young girl from our community, life looks very different.

For half of her life, she has been fighting an invisible battle,one that has now reached a terrifying breaking point.

What started as simple headaches at age eight has spiraled into a daily struggle for survival. Today, Chanté’s body has become a prison of pain, and she urgently needs the help of Potchefstroom and beyond to find the answers that could save her life.

A Rapid Decline

Since December 2023, Chanté’s health has deteriorated at an alarming rate. Her "new normal" is a harrowing list of symptoms that no child should ever have to endure:

Neurological Crisis: Frequent seizures, debilitating migraines, and frightening episodes of temporary paralysis.

Vision Loss: Sudden "blackout" episodes where her vision fails completely.

Heart & Physical Strain: Excruciating chest pain and severe, water-like swelling across her entire body.

Extreme Fatigue: A level of exhaustion that makes even the simplest daily tasks feel impossible.

Every day that passes without a clear diagnosis is a day that Chanté loses more of her youth to these intensifying symptoms.

The Search for Answers

The path to recovery starts with diagnostic clarity. To understand why her body is fighting against her, Chanté requires an intensive battery of medical evaluations, including:

Brain MRIs to investigate the neurological symptoms.
24-Hour Heart Monitoring to address chest pains and arrhythmia.
Specialist Consultations and further advanced testing.

The medical costs for these specialized scans and hospital fees are immense. The goal is set at R200,000.00, but as of now, only a small fraction has been raised.
