Cricket South Africa (CSA) has opened registrations for Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses in the North West province. These sessions, set to take place at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, offer a formal pathway for those looking to trade their playing gear for a coach’s clipboard.

Starting the Journey: CSA Level 1
For those aged 18 and older, the Level 1 course serves as the entry point into official coaching. The programme includes a four-week online pre-course study period followed by in-person practical sessions from 22 to 25 June 2026.
The course fee is R750, which includes the Safeguarding Awareness Certificate. Under the guidance of course leaders Duane Bredenkamp and Claude April, candidates will cover the fundamentals of the game.

Stepping Up: CSA Level 2
Experienced coaches looking to advance their credentials can apply for the Level 2 course, led by Dr Jaco Peens. This qualification is open to applicants aged 21 and older.
The Level 2 course runs from 13 to 17 July 2026 and costs R1 200. Prospective candidates should note that Level 2 applicants are required to have accumulated 25 Continuous Development Point (CPD) sessions, such as CAP camps or refresher courses, to qualify.
Important Requirements and Logistics
Before heading to the nets, all applicants must meet specific criteria. A key requirement is that candidates must be actively coaching within the North West province. A formal letter from a school, club, or academy confirming this status is mandatory.
Key deadlines and conditions:
Level 1 Closing Date: 15 May 2026
Level 2 Closing Date: 26 May 2026
Minimum Attendance: Each course requires at least 10 candidates to proceed.
Safeguarding: All accepted and paid-up applicants must complete the Safeguarding Course (SAC) and provide the necessary clearances before attending the physical sessions.
How to Register
The registration process is handled digitally via Google Forms. Once the form is submitted, candidates must send their supporting documents and proof of payment to nwcreception@cricket.co.za.
No late registrations will be accepted, so those keen to sharpen their coaching skills should ensure their paperwork is in order well ahead of the May deadlines.
