World Food Safety Day is landing in Potch with a full belly of events. Sasol Baillie Park is pulling out all the stops on Friday, 6 June 2025, hosting one of the main global events right here in sunny South Africa. Yes, it's even listed on the World Health Organization’s website, so you know it's the real deal.
Science, Snacks, and Soundtracks
The theme this year? "Food Safety – Science in Action." And while that may sound like something straight out of a science textbook, the event itself promises to be anything but. From 10AM, the venue at 2 Parys Ave, Baillie Park will transform into a vibrant mash-up of education and entertainment:
Live DJ dropping the beats
Dance and choir performances (probably the only time you’ll see a lab coat moonwalking)
Tasty food tastings for your inner MasterChef
Games and activities to keep the kids (and kids-at-heart) busy
Guest speakers unpacking why food safety is a big deal (without putting you to sleep)
It’s science, but with snacks and sound systems.
No Excuses
Whether you’re into microbiology or just micro-doses of fun between work shifts, there’s something here for everyone. So pop by, hang out, and maybe even learn how not to give yourself food poisoning. Win-win.

If you care about what’s on your plate, and enjoy a bit of fun with your fact sheets, Sasol Baillie Park is the place to be this 6 June. Food safety may be serious business, but celebrating it doesn't have to be.
Bring the gees, bring the kids, and leave the dodgy takeaway behind. See you there.
