School cricket in the North West is about to reach new heights thanks to a powerful partnership between North West Cricket and the North West Department of Education. This collaboration will strengthen the sport at every level, from grassroots initiatives like KFC Mini-Cricket to high-performance provincial pathways.

The vision is clear: create equal access, drive development, and open opportunities for learners in every corner of the province. Whether on the smallest school field or at the most competitive provincial tournament, the goal is to ensure that cricket is thriving, inclusive, and full of potential.
“This partnership remains vital to ensuring that cricket continues to thrive in our schools,” said NWC CSM, Mr. Solomon Meki. “We are committed to working hand in hand with the Department of Education to nurture talent and instill a love for the game from an early age.”
Building the Pipeline
The partnership aims to:
Identify and nurture young talent through school competitions and talent-scouting programmes.
Provide resources and equipment to schools, especially in under-resourced areas.
Train and support educators and coaches to deliver high-quality cricket programmes.
Promote inclusivity and gender equality by encouraging both boys’ and girls’ participation at all levels.
Beyond the Boundary
The benefits of cricket extend far beyond the pitch. By engaging young people in sport, this initiative supports:
Improved discipline and focus in the classroom.
Physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
Teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
This partnership isn’t just about winning matches, it’s about growing the game, developing life skills, and building community pride. The combined efforts of North West Cricket and the Department of Education mean that every learner has a chance to pick up a bat or ball and discover the joy of the sport.
With the 2025 season underway, all eyes will be on the schools and players who will benefit from this exciting collaboration. One thing is certain, the future of cricket in the North West is looking brighter than ever.
