The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has taken steps to enhance road safety measures across the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District by completing a practical training program for local traffic officials. Concluded on 17 July 2026 at the Klerksdorp Recreational Centre, the workshop focused on mastering the operation and maintenance of the ProLaser 3 Speed Measuring Equipment. Facilitated by specialized traffic enforcement tech firm Truvelo Africa, the initiative forms part of the department’s broader strategy to modernize traffic law enforcement and reduce road incidents through advanced technological deployment.
Throughout the training course, traffic officers underwent both theoretical modules and practical instruction covering the operation, safety protocols, and routine maintenance of the ProLaser 3 device. Built for high-precision speed detection, the laser-based system is engineered to function in environmental conditions with temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C. To maintain strict legal and operational standards, instructors emphasized that only certified officers are authorized to use the equipment during active law enforcement. Officers were instructed to ensure they carry their valid ProLaser operator certificate, official appointment card, and the equipment’s calibration certificate during all speed enforcement operations. Facilitators urged participants to maintain high standards of professionalism, noting that attention to detail and pride in the uniform are central to building strong operational competence.
By providing specialized training on precision technology, the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management aims to ensure that law enforcement personnel are fully prepared to uphold road traffic regulations. The department reiterated its commitment to investing in ongoing professional development and modern tools for officers, with the ultimate goal of improving compliance, curbing speeding, and creating safer road conditions for all users throughout the region.
