July has been an extraordinary month for Paws Haven. Between reaching exciting community milestones, celebrating a historic Mandela Week, and introducing a fresh lineup of precious rescue animals ready for adoption, the shelter is buzzing with hope, hard work, and endless gratitude.

Expanding the Paws Haven Community
To kick off the week's updates, Paws Haven officially announced the launch of their brand-new Instagram page.
Social media plays a massive role in saving lives, as every share, like, and follow increases the chances of a rescue pet finding a family. By following their new Instagram community, supporters can look forward to:

A Mandela Week to Remember: 14 Lives Changed!
Mandela Day (18 July) proved to be an overwhelming success thanks to the incredible generosity of the Potchefstroom community and beyond. From donating bags of food, blankets, and cleaning supplies to sponsoring individual animals for R67, shopping at the Mom's Closet sale, buying eggs, or volunteering time, supporters showed up in full force.
The most inspiring milestone of all? Fourteen animals found their forever homes during Mandela Week alone!
Fourteen deserving pets traded shelter kennels for warm beds, loving hands, and dedicated families. Beyond changing those 14 lives, every adoption freed up crucial space at Paws Haven, allowing the team to rescue more animals in urgent need. The funds and momentum generated during the week will also go toward Paws Haven's ongoing mass sterilisation project, aimed at reducing unwanted litters in the local community.

While Mandela Week was a massive triumph, the shelter reminds everyone that the need never truly stops. Food, medicine, cleaning supplies, and daily care are required 365 days a year, and ongoing support remains vital to keeping the shelter gates open.
Meet the Newest Rescues Looking for Forever Homes!
Following the wave of successful adoptions, Paws Haven has introduced several new feline and canine residents who are ready to find loving families of their own.
The Feline Friends:
Miss Di (Ref: Admin 0767)
Miss Di is a stunning 1-year-old white tabby cat with a gentle, sweet, and quiet way of stealing hearts. Surrendered on 14 April 2026, this delicate girl is looking for a peaceful home where she will be cherished forever. (Cat Adoption Fee: R650–R750)
Diamond
True to her name, Diamond is a genuine gem. She is a beautiful 2-year-old grey and white tabby girl with a sweet, affectionate nature. Diamond is eager to settle into a lifelong home and be a devoted companion. (Cat Adoption Fee: R650)
The Puppy Crew:
Zorro (Ref: 0992)
At just 4 months old, Zorro is a Yorkie cross puppy packed with charm, curiosity, and playfulness. He is always on the move and needs a patient family ready to guide him as he grows.
Jimi
Born on 2 April, Jimi is a playful little boy full of curiosity and puppy energy. He loves exploring his surroundings and is ready to bring endless laughter to a dedicated family.
Jock
Jock is an adorable 3-to-4-month-old puppy who loves playing with toys and making new friends. Handsome and full of life, he will make a wonderful best friend for an active household.

Standard Adoption Process & Inclusions
To ensure every rescue animal is placed in a safe, permanent home, Paws Haven maintains a thorough adoption protocol.
What Every Adoption Fee Includes:
First vaccination (follow-up vaccinations are for the adopter's account)
Deworming
Rabies vaccination
Microchip
Sterilisation (completed prior to adoption, or booked for when puppies/kittens reach the appropriate age)
How to Adopt:
Contact the Paws Haven office to inquire about a pet.
Complete a formal adoption application.
Allow the team to conduct a standard home check.
Upon approval, welcome your new family member home!
