Die Pienk Huis Does Christmas Lunch So You Don’t Have To

Christmas lunch is one of those traditions everyone loves right up until it’s their turn to cook. This year Die Pienk Huis in Potchefstroom is offering Christmas takeaways on 24 December 2025, aimed at people who would rather spend the day arguing about who hid the brandy than peeling potatoes.
There’s no website and no ticket link to fuss with. Orders are handled the old-fashioned way through their Facebook page or directly with the team. If anyone needs to double-check details, they can phone 081-344-1822.
What’s on the Menu
Die Pienk Huis has put together a full spread that covers starters, mains, sides and dessert. In other words, the whole “proper Christmas meal” thing, without the sink full of pots afterwards.
Starters set the tone as proudly South African. There’s biltong pâté with crostini, described as rich and creamy with crisp crostini on the side. Then come mini biltong quiches, light and buttery, and basically proof that biltong can improve just about anything.
Mains give a few solid options for the main event:
Traditional leg of lamb with rosemary, tomato and garlic, slow-roasted until someone’s uncle starts giving cooking tips even though he didn’t lift a finger.
Chicken roll filled with feta, spinach, cream cheese and pepperdew, for the people who like their Christmas dinner with a bit of tang.
Beef shin pie, slow-cooked with red wine and mushrooms, topped with buttery pastry.
Smoked glazed gammon with ginger and honey glaze, tender and glossy without needing a second glaze job from whoever usually overdoes the oven.

Sides read like the kind of list that makes people suddenly remember they “actually do like vegetables” at Christmas:
Basmati rice, light and fragrant.
Sweet potato caramel roll, creamy and sweet.
Parmesan baby potatoes, golden and crispy.
Pumpkin fritters with caramel sauce, soft and delightful.
Green bean bundles in bacon, crisp and savoury.
Oven-roasted vegetables with feta, colourful and flavourful.
Italian tomato salad with mozzarella, basil and balsamic drizzle.
Desserts finish things off properly:
Pavlova with caramel, cream and berries.
Black forest cherry pudding.
Mini cheesecakes with fresh strawberries.
No one is saying people must share dessert, but Die Pienk Huis is clearly giving enough reason to pretend they will.

Price, Pre-Orders and Collection
The takeaway package is R445 per person. Orders are pre-order and pre-pay, which should help avoid last-minute panic on Christmas Eve. Collection is at 12:00 on 24 December from Die Pienk Huis, at 190 Peter Mokaba Street, Central, Potchefstroom.
Christmas is still Christmas, but at least this way someone else worries about the roast while everyone else worries about whether the ice will last and who’s on playlist duty.
