Klerksdorp kids mean business—literally.
On 24 May 2025, Eden Garden Centre in Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp, will host something a little different: a market run entirely by the youth. And not just any youth—vendors must be between the ages of 8 and 18. It’s called the Young Entrepreneur Market, and it’s shaping up to be a platform for kids who are ready to hustle their way from juice stands to, who knows, possibly boardrooms one day.
What’s the Deal?
Running from 10:00 to 14:00, the market invites young go-getters to either start or grow their own business. It could be a craft stall, baked goods, handmade slime, or even dog treats—if it’s legit and youth-run, it’s welcome.
The catch (and it’s not a bad one): you’ve got to book your stall in advance via WhatsApp at 084 417 7365. Stall fees are R150, and budding entrepreneurs are asked to bring their own gazebo, table and chair. Don’t panic if you don’t have one—organisers have promised, “No gazebo? We will make a plan!” Classic South African can-do spirit.
Who Can Join?
As mentioned, this market is strictly for the under-18s—vendors must be between 8 and 18 years old. So, if your kid’s already showing signs of being the next Elon Musk (or just wants to sell cookies), this is a solid starting point. It's less about the money, more about the experience—and maybe earning enough to buy a PlayStation controller or restock on glitter glue.
Where It’s All Happening
The venue is the Eden Garden Centre, situated at Cnr Vlei & Dr Yusuf Dadoo, Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp. If you’ve ever been to Eden, you’ll know it’s more than just plants. Besides the massive selection of herbs, trees and garden gear, Eden also stocks décor items that could make even your lounge feel a little less like a lockdown leftover.
Want In?
Book a stall by WhatsApping 084 417 7365, and that’s pretty much it. No long forms, no red tape. Just a date, a table, and a chance for your kid to test the waters of running a small business in the real world.
The Young Entrepreneur Market is shaping up to be a mix of charm, creativity, and pure entrepreneurial energy—minus the corporate suits and jargon. It’s just local kids, their ideas, and a chance to give business a bash.
And hey, there might be lemonade.
