Empowering People SA is bringing a four-day training programme designed to help people figure out what to do when things catch fire, or people do. This accredited training company is offering a series of courses that target companies, schools, individuals, medical workers, and those who spend a lot of time hoping they’ll never have to use this stuff but know they should probably know it anyway.
Learn to Keep People Breathing: 2–3 June 2025
The first course, Perform Basic Life Support and First Aid Procedures Level 1, runs over two days. It’s aimed at those who want to know what to do until the professionals arrive with sirens and a defibrillator. It’s R1250 per person and includes light lunch and refreshments. Because nothing says "CPR refresher" like a sandwich and a cup of tea.
This training equips attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to act confidently in emergency situations. It doesn’t turn you into a paramedic, but it’ll help you get someone through the worst 10 minutes of their day without making it worse.
Putting Out Fires Without Calling the Brigade: 4 June 2025
On 4 June, the spotlight moves to Basic Fire Fighting Level 2. For R980, this one-day course gives learners the lowdown on dealing with the kind of fires that can pop up in homes and offices, places where people burn toast or leave laptop chargers under piles of paper.
The training includes managing and extinguishing fires, and as with all the courses, lunch and refreshments are part of the deal. Fire safety plus a bite to eat? You could do worse for a Wednesday.
Health and Safety Without the Clipboards: 5 June 2025
The final course, Apply Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Principles as REP Level 3, is on 5 June and costs R1050 per person. This one is for those designated as SHE Reps, health and safety representatives—who need to know how to spot workplace hazards and make sure they don’t become workplace headlines.
The session covers identifying and managing risks, ensuring the workplace is as safe as reasonably possible (because nothing is ever 100% safe when Kevin from HR still uses that dodgy kettle). Of course, lunch and refreshments are included.
Attending all 4 days at a discount price of R2980.
