Residents of Potchefstroom will have access to mobile Smart ID services from 2 to 4 December 2025 as the Department of Home Affairs brings ID card processing directly to local community halls. The outreach programme is coordinated in partnership with JB Marks Local Municipality and aims to reduce long queues at Home Affairs offices and improve service accessibility for residents across the region.

Purpose of the Mobile ID Campaign
The initiative forms part of an ongoing effort to decentralise Home Affairs services and assist residents who face challenges reaching the main branch. By deploying mobile units to community venues, the department hopes to streamline Smart ID applications, shorten waiting times, and offer greater convenience.
Residents are encouraged to forward their ID numbers and the name of their area to their ward councillor or to Mr. Sydney Fokazi of the Potchefstroom Home Affairs office via WhatsApp at 078 814 9972 before the distribution day. Pre-registration helps officials manage queues and improve service flow.
