The JB Marks Local Municipality has officially opened the floor for residents to shape the future of their communities. In a public notice issued by Municipal Manager Mr. K. Kumbe, Executive Mayor Councillor Gaba Thithiba Ka Qhele invited all stakeholders to participate in the upcoming Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget community engagements for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The IDP serves as a strategic roadmap, designed to align municipal resources with the actual needs and priorities of the people. By participating, residents have a direct say in how the municipal budget is allocated toward infrastructure, service delivery, and local economic development.

Why Your Voice Matters
This participatory process is not just a courtesy; it is a constitutional mandate. Under Section 151(1) (e) of the South African Constitution and the Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000, local governments are required to foster a culture of "participatory governance."
This 5th Generation IDP process is a critical opportunity for residents to ensure that the municipality's long-term plan reflects the lived realities of every ward, from Potchefstroom to Ventersdorp and surrounding areas.
