Residents and business owners in Potchefstroom should prepare for a temporary dry spell this coming week. The JB Marks Local Municipality issued a public notice on Saturday, March 14, 2026, announcing a planned one-day water supply shutdown scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The interruption is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades at the Ikageng Pumping Station.

Key Details of the Shutdown
The municipality has outlined the following schedule for the maintenance work:
Date: Tuesday, 17 March 2026
Time: Starting from 06:00 AM until late
Reason: Replacement of dysfunctional valves and pipeline connection works between Pump Stations 7 and 8.

To minimize the impact of the outage, the Communication Unit of the JB Marks Local Municipality urges all residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance. This stored water should cover basic needs such as drinking, cooking, and hygiene for the duration of the day.
The municipality expressed its apologies for the unavoidable inconvenience, noting that these repairs are critical for ensuring the long-term reliability of the local water supply system.
