JB Marks Local Municipality has had a week of visible action and responsiveness, from high-profile leadership joining road repairs to swift investigations into community concerns. On the streets, the #ValaZonke Pothole Patching Programme brought national, provincial, and local leaders together in Ward 19, where they literally rolled up their sleeves to assist road crews. Behind the scenes, municipal teams delivered daily service updates across multiple departments, tackling everything from sewer pipeline installations to full waste collection coverage.

Hands-On Leadership – Minister Creecy Joins JB Marks Pothole Repairs
JB Marks Local Municipality – Ward 19, Sarafina Street Road safety and maintenance took centre stage this week as Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, joined forces with MEC for Public Works & Roads in North West, Hon. Sempe Elizabeth Mokua, Acting Executive Mayor of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, Cllr. Lebogang Itebogeng, and Acting Executive Mayor of JB Marks Local Municipality, Cllr. Gerald Modise for the #ValaZonke Pothole Patching Programme in Sarafina Street.
The visit went beyond a simple inspection, it was a symbolic act of hands-on leadership. Leaders physically participated in patching the road, demonstrating their commitment to improving infrastructure and the daily lives of residents.
The #ValaZonke initiative is a nationwide effort to repair potholes and improve road conditions across South Africa, ensuring safer and smoother travel for motorists. Sarafina Street, being one of the longer streets in the area, saw 70% completion during this joint operation, with the remaining 30% to be completed in planned phases.
