Forget the boxed stuff and put down that plastic cup. The NWU Wine Tasting event is pouring the good stuff this May, and they’re doing it properly.
A Tasting, Not a Glug
The North-West University will be hosting a wine tasting night that’s slightly fancier than your average varsity braai. Jordan Winery from Stellenbosch is heading north to D'Vine Ven’U (yes, it’s spelled like that) at Building H4 on campus. The Dampad Dining Hall is being transformed into a proper wine tasting venue for the night.
The evening kicks off at 18:30 on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, and will be presented by the one and only Mark Harrison. Whether he's a sommelier, wine whisperer, or just really enjoys a glass or two is yet to be confirmed, but he’ll be leading the tasting.
What’s the Damage?
For R295 per person, you get more than just a taste of wine; the price includes a full meal. And not just a mini bread roll and cheese cube either, there’s an actual “mouthwatering meal” involved. You’ll want to secure your spot sooner rather than later, though, because ticket sales close on 20 May 2025.
Tickets are available through Quicket:

Also, no rocking up with a screenshot from your cousin’s phone, tickets must be presented on arrival, and if you want a refund, that needs to happen before the event (so definitely not while you're swirling your second glass).
