West Acres Centre is rolling out the crayons for its annual Kids Festive Colouring Competition, inviting young artists to settle in for a bit of colouring, a bit of competition and a whole lot of December chaos that parents know all too well.
When the Colouring Happens
The centre will host colouring-in days on 5, 6, 12 and 13 December 2025. Children can pop in, pick up a festive page and get colouring right there at the venue. No entry fees, no fancy equipment required. Just a kid, a crayon and the hope that they stay inside the lines.
How to Enter
The rules are simple enough. Each young participant must write down their name, surname and contact number which, let’s be honest, will almost certainly be their mother’s number. Once the masterpiece is complete, it must be dropped into the correct age-category box.
Judging and Prizes
Things get serious from 15 December when the top five finalists in each age group are selected and displayed at the centre. From there, judges will pick one winner per age group on 19 December.
All finalists receive a prize, with first place in each category scoring something extra. Contestants need to be present on the day of the announcement to claim their winnings, so parents may want to add a calendar reminder before the festive season brain fog kicks in.
To keep spirits high, every child who enters gets a treat, because nothing motivates like sugar in December.
Why It’s Happening
The competition forms part of West Acres Centre’s festive programme, giving local families an easy and fun activity during the run-up to Christmas. Kids get creative, parents get a breather and the centre gets a colourful display that beats any store-bought décor.
Readers can share the event details, spread the word or simply prepare themselves for the annual flood of glitter-covered artworks that will inevitably make their way onto fridges across Potchefstroom.
The crayons are ready. The pages are printed. The kids will be buzzing. Let the colouring begin at West Acres.
