Klerksdorp Javelin Academy Male Athletes Break Records in Season Opener

The Klerksdorp Javelin Academy has kicked off the 2026 season with a series of historic performances, including the shattering of long-standing records across various age categories.

Record-Breaking Performances
Alto Wiggett (U14): Alto broke a 24-year-old record set in 2002 by Noel Meyer, a former South African record holder.
Stian Zopick & Marques Olivier (U19): Both athletes surpassed the previous record held by Johan Vosloo.
Stian Zopick achieved a throw of 64.9m in his first official competition using the 800g javelin.
Marques Olivier delivered a dominant performance with a throw of just under 70m.
Rising Stars and Milestones
Jan Pieter Jordaan (U15): Jan Pieter reached a significant personal milestone by crossing the 45m mark early in the season.
Ruhan Dreyer (U16): In his debut with the 700g javelin, Ruhan narrowly missed the 60m mark, recording a best throw of just over 59m.
Road to the World U20 Championships
The academy’s top performers, Stian Zopick and Marques Olivier, have set their sights on international competition. Both athletes are working toward qualifying for the World U20 Championships, which are scheduled to take place in August 2026 in the USA.
