Golfers across Potchefstroom and beyond are dusting off their clubs for the much-anticipated Landbou Open and Juniors 2025, set to tee off on Sunday, 20 July 2025 at the Landbou Golf Club. It’s not a music festival, although the thwack of well-hit drives might be music to the ears of some. Here's everything you need to know, without the fluff.

Who Can Enter?
The event is open to any male amateur golfer who:
Belongs to a Golf Club affiliated with a Union or Association recognised by SAGA (South African Golf Association)
Has a valid handicap assessed under a SAGA-approved system
Is a senior player (Juniors presumably will be in a separate division, though that part’s vague)
Has a handicap index of 24 or lower
But before you start bragging about your birdies, remember: entry is not guaranteed. The Landbou Golf Association will have the final say, basing approval on your handicap and the number of entries received.
Tournament Details
Date: Sunday, 20 July 2025
Venue: Landbou Golf Club, Potchefstroom
Format: 18 holes
Limit: 60 players max
Cost: R300 per person (includes playing fees, early morning tea/coffee, and halfway)
The R300 entry fee doesn’t just get you a spot on the green, it also includes that all-important halfway snack and a warm cup to kickstart your day. But no caddies allowed, so you’ll be lugging your own bag unless you’ve got permission for an outside caddie.
How to Enter
Entries must be submitted by:
WhatsApp: 066-297-3028
Email: landbougolfclub@gmail.com
Closing Date:
Noon on Friday, 18 July 2025. Late entries? Not a chance.
Draw Info:
Draw and tee times will be posted on Friday, 18 July 2025, so keep your inbox refreshed and your boots polished.
And if you’re wondering whether you’ve made the final cut? That’s your responsibility to confirm. Don't blame the organisers if you're left sipping coffee in the clubhouse while everyone else is on the tee box.
The Fine Print (Read This Bit)
Prizegiving attendance is compulsory. No sneak outs allowed.
No caddies unless approved.
Miss your tee time by more than 5 minutes? That’s a penalty or worse, disqualification.
Withdrawals after being accepted? You forfeit your entry fee.
Want a golf cart? Book it early at 087-527-0867 for R300.
Also, the Landbou Indemnity Clause is on the club’s notice board. Read it. Just in case your drive ends up in the neighbouring farm.
Player Info Form
You’ll need to provide:
Full Name and Surname
Home Club
GolfRSA Player ID
Handicap Index
Contact Number
Fill it in, send it off, and hope your short game is in better shape than your handwriting.

So, if your Sunday plans involve fairways instead of Facebook scrolls, get that entry in before 18 July. And remember, it’s not just about winning, it’s about making it to the 18th without losing a ball or your dignity.
