In a decisive move to ensure accountability and accelerate service delivery, the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Gaba Thithiba ka Qhele, led a high-level delegation on a comprehensive site inspection of major capital infrastructure projects today.
Accompanying the Mayor were the Speaker of Council, Ald. Moithoesi Rosy Dassie, and the Single Whip, Cllr. Lumkile Links. The delegation, which included Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), councillors from various political parties, and senior municipal officials, traversed the region to monitor progress on projects vital to the city’s modernization and the dignity of its residents.

Modernizing Service Delivery
The oversight visit was more than a walkthrough; it was a verification of the Municipality’s commitment to building a resilient and functional environment. The focused inspections targeted the "backbone" of urban living, sewerage, transport, and housing.
"These projects underscore our unwavering commitment to enhancing the living conditions of our people," the Mayor remarked during the tour. "We are not just laying pipes and bricks; we are restoring the dignity of our residents through reliable service delivery."

Key Projects Under Inspection
The delegation visited several high-priority sites where work is currently underway to replace aging infrastructure and expand capacity for growing communities:
Sewerage & Sanitation: Major upgrades are currently focused on the Mohadin and Poortjie Dam areas. Additionally, the delegation inspected the Promosa Poortjie Dam bulk sewer line and the construction of a Rising Main and Bulk Distribution Pipeline in Ikageng, aimed at ending long-standing sanitation bottlenecks.
Transport & Connectivity: A critical highlight was the construction of the bridge at Promosa Poortjie Dam, a vital link intended to improve mobility and safety for local commuters.
Integrated Housing: The visit concluded with an assessment of the Ikageng Extension 6 and Extension 13 (Phase 2 & 3) projects. These sites represent a holistic approach to development, combining sewer reticulation with the construction of housing top structures to ensure move-in-ready homes.

A Unified Front for Progress
The inclusion of various political parties in the delegation highlights a transparent, multi-party approach to oversight. By bringing the media and senior officials directly to the construction sites, the leadership ensured that progress, and any potential hurdles, remained a matter of public record.
As these projects move toward completion, the Municipality remains focused on ensuring that every cent of the capital budget translates into a tangible improvement in the daily lives of its citizens.
