The scent of deep-heat and the sound of thumping tackles are returning to the Fanie Du Toit Sports Grounds. It is that time of year again when the books are briefly swapped for gumguards and the FNB NWU Eagles take to the field for the Varsity Cup 2026.
Local supporters are being called upon to get behind the boys in purple as they prepare for a series of high-stakes encounters at their home ground. With the first whistle set for late February, the atmosphere in the stands is expected to be as lively as ever.
The Home Turf Advantage
The action starts on Monday, 23 February 2026, with a clash against FNB Emeris. Kick-off is scheduled for 16:45, making it the perfect excuse to leave the office or the library a little early.
The schedule at the Fanie Du Toit Sports Grounds continues with two more massive home fixtures:
16 March: A 19:00 showdown against the old rivals, FNB UP-Tuks.
30 March: A 16:45 battle against the FNB UCT Ikeys.
Scoring a Seat
For those looking to join the madness, the logistics are straightforward. Tickets are priced at R50.00 per person. There is no need for a last-minute scramble at the gate because fans can secure their spots online.
Tickets go live at 13H00 on Quicket from the Tuesday before each Monday game.
Grab your tickets early, put on your purple gear, and let’s show the visitors exactly why the Eagles are so tough to beat on their own patch.
