The local football scene reached a fever pitch this past Monday as the Cashibe World Cup Easter Tournament hosted its highly anticipated finals at the Ikageng Stadium. After four days of relentless grassroots action, the tournament delivered a masterclass in local talent, with heartbreak for some and historic glory for others.
The event, sponsored by Herotel, SAB, Vuyani, and Soks, saw the stadium packed to capacity, proving once again that football is the heartbeat of the Ikageng community.

First Teams: Marks of Excellence Dominate
In the main event, Marks of Excellence lived up to their name with a clinical performance against the fan-favorites, Tiki Taka. Despite Tiki Taka's renowned possession-based philosophy, they struggled to break down a disciplined Marks of Excellence defense.
The Ventersdorp-based side took control early and never looked back, securing a convincing 3-0 victory. The win marks a significant milestone for the club, with Coach Thato attributing the success to the team’s unwavering dedication and tactical execution throughout the weekend.

Under-17: Tiki Taka Finds Redemption
While the first team fell short, the Tiki Taka U-17 squad ensured the club didn't leave empty-handed. In a high-scoring affair against Promosa Young Stars, Tiki Taka showcased their attacking prowess. They dismantled the Promosa defense to claim a massive 5-1 win, asserting their dominance in the youth category and giving their supporters plenty to cheer about.

Under-15: Potch Academy Upsets the Host Favorites
The junior category provided one of the most competitive matches of the day. Potch Academy faced off against Tiki Taka’s U-15 side in a tactical battle. While Tiki Taka fought hard to keep the trophy at home, Potch Academy proved more efficient in front of goal, walking away with a 3-1 win to secure the U-15 title.

As the dust settles on the 2026 Easter edition, the focus now shifts to the development of these young stars, many of whom have surely caught the eyes of scouts over the long weekend.
