Elite track athlete Marnus Jonker has concluded a highly successful international campaign for Team South Africa at the CUCSA (Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Associations) Games 2026. Representing University Sport South Africa (USSA) and the Potch Track Club, Jonker anchored the national athletics contingent with a commanding dual podium performance on the track.

The successful continental campaign serves as an optimal competitive springboard as Jonker prepares for an immediate transition to the elite European athletics circuit.
Podium Breakthroughs and Tactical Times
Competing against the top tertiary-level track athletes from across the African continent, Jonker demonstrated exceptional top-end speed and tactical composure across both individual and relay disciplines:
400m Individual Silver: Jonker secured the silver medal in a fiercely contested 400-meter sprint final. He stopped the clock at a blazing 46.34 seconds, marking a personal season's best performance.
4×400m Mixed Relay Gold: Jonker returned to the track to form a critical part of the South African 4×400m Mixed Relay lineup. The squad dominated the field to claim the gold medal, storming across the finish line in a spectacular winning time of 3:30.66.
Immediate Pivot to European Campaign
The timing of these podium finishes provides a significant confidence boost for the Potchefstroom-based sprinter. With recovery protocols already underway following the conclusion of the Gaborone games, Jonker's technical management team has confirmed that he will fly out immediately to launch his highly anticipated European summer debut.
His international campaign is scheduled to get underway in Belgium this week, where he will look to replicate his continental form against elite global fields and further lower his seasonal times.
