On 5 September 2025, the City of Matlosana announced progress in its routine infrastructure upkeep, with teams from the Departments of Roads and Electrical Engineering carrying out targeted repairs and upgrades across the municipality. The works form part of an accelerated service delivery programme championed by the Executive Mayor and Council to improve road safety, accessibility, and community wellbeing.

Road Repairs and Pothole Patching
Maintenance crews focused on critical road repairs and pavement construction, addressing potholes and damaged sections in multiple areas across the city.
The following locations were serviced:
Flecker Street, Orkney – pavement reconstruction and pothole patching
Oosthuizen Street, Songloed – targeted road surface repairs
Lekoma Street, Khuma Ext. 6 – pothole filling and general roadworks
Tirisano Road, Ellaton – pothole patching for improved mobility
Siddle Street – overlay works to strengthen the roadway surface
These upgrades are expected to improve driving conditions and extend the lifespan of heavily used municipal roads.
Street Light Repairs in Meiringspark
In addition to road maintenance, the Electrical Engineering Department carried out repairs on street lighting in Meiringspark, systematically restoring functionality on a street-by-street basis. Reliable street lighting plays a crucial role in enhancing safety, deterring crime, and ensuring well-lit environments for pedestrians and motorists alike.

Accelerated Service Delivery Commitment
The City emphasized that these interventions form part of its ongoing service delivery drive, with the aim of addressing basic infrastructure needs while boosting public confidence in municipal services. The coordinated efforts between the Roads and Electrical Engineering departments reflect a broader strategy to ensure that residents benefit from consistent maintenance and visible improvements across the municipality.
