Mike’s Kitchen Potchefstroom Serves Up Two Christmas Feasts This December - 25 December

Christmas Day at Mike’s Kitchen Potchefstroom is shaping up to be a feast to remember, and no one’s walking away hungry. The restaurant is offering not one, but two festive menus for 25 December 2025, both guaranteed to satisfy even the fussiest of family members.

The Traditional Three-Course Christmas Menu

For those who prefer a sit-down meal with all the trimmings, Mike’s Kitchen has put together a three-course menu at R390 per person. Diners choose their own adventure from the starters, mains, and desserts on offer.

Starters range from crumbed mushrooms and cheese garlic snails to sticky BBQ wings, creamy mussels, jalapeño and cheese rissoles, or peri-peri chicken livers.

Mains include hearty favourites like a 300g rump with sauce, Eisbein, farmhouse chicken schnitzel, or a seafood platter for one. There’s also a grilled Pedro’s chicken and a chicken and halloumi salad for those leaning toward something lighter (or pretending to be). Each main comes with a choice of starch, chips, rice, vegetables, mash, or baked potato, because it’s Christmas and carbs don’t count.

Dessert rounds things off with Amarula malva pudding, black cherry cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, a Don Pedro (Amarula or Kahlua), or Mike’s ice cream and Bar-One sauce. A sweet ending to a solid Christmas lunch.

The Christmas Carvery Buffet

If making decisions isn’t your strong suit, the Christmas Carvery Menu might be the way to go. At R349 for adults and R120 for kids, this buffet setup is ideal for anyone who believes Christmas lunch should involve “a bit of everything.”

The salad bar kicks things off with a selection of salads, fresh breads, and soup of the day. From there, it’s straight into the meaty business, rosemary and garlic lamb roast, honey glazed gammon, beef roast, grilled chicken pieces, and meatballs all make an appearance.

Vegetable lovers (or those just looking to pretend) can load up on caramel pumpkin fritters, sweet potato bake, green beans and mashed potatoes, roasted mixed veg, and creamy spinach.

The sides and pots section brings the comfort: tongue and mustard sauce, chicken and mushroom pie, oxtail potjie, short rib potjie, savoury rice, samp, and roasted potato wedges with gravy. And yes, there’s dessert too, the same line-up of puddings and sweet treats as the set menu.
