A significant milestone has been reached in the City of Matlosana as the Department of Human Settlements, together with municipal leadership, continues to advance the Military Veterans Housing Project. The initiative aims to provide dignified, stable housing for military veterans and forms part of broader national efforts to support those who have served the country.

Progress on Housing Delivery
Gcinisipho Trading (Pty) Ltd was appointed to construct 10 housing units for military veterans within the municipality. The project has now reached substantial completion, with all planned units finalised.
Completed Units
Three units in Tigane (Wards 1 and 2) were completed and officially handed over earlier in the year.
Seven additional units in Jouberton Extension 31 and 34 have now been finished, bringing the project to full completion.
These homes represent an important step toward improving the quality of life for beneficiaries and ensuring long-term residential stability.
Inspection and Handover of Units
A final oversight inspection was conducted by representatives from the National and Provincial Departments of Human Settlements, City of Matlosana officials, and the Ward Councillor.
During this visit:
The newly built homes were inspected for quality and compliance.
Beneficiaries received their keys, ensuring immediate occupation.
Early occupation was encouraged to help deter vandalism and protect the newly completed properties.
Officials noted that the workmanship met required standards, and the coordination between stakeholders contributed to the smooth completion of the project.
Stakeholder Acknowledgements
Stakeholders expressed appreciation for the quality of construction and the City’s ongoing support throughout the implementation process. The collaboration between government departments, the contractor, and local structures was highlighted as a key contributor to the successful delivery of these units.
Their remarks underscored the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in achieving sustainable human settlement outcomes.

Commitment to Military Veterans and Community Development
The completion of all 10 units demonstrates the government’s continued commitment to improving the living conditions of military veterans. Beyond providing shelter, the project strengthens community development by promoting stable, secure, and dignified living environments for those who have served the nation.
The initiative also forms part of the broader strategy to ensure equitable access to housing, support vulnerable groups, and build sustainable neighbourhoods within the City of Matlosana.
