Shadow Art Takes the Spotlight
Potchefstroom’s creative community can look forward to a refreshing outdoor art experience when My Creative Fix partners with Hartspad Adventure Trails for the launch of the Hartspad Creative Trail on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
The first session, fittingly titled Shadow Art, combines a gentle wander through nature with a guided art activity. Participants will explore the trails, tracing the shadows and shapes of leaves, twigs and berries before turning those sketches into expressive artworks back at the Hartspad coffee shop.
A Relaxed, Hands-On Morning
Running from 8:30 to 11:30, the session encourages creativity without the pressure of perfection. No experience is needed, only curiosity and a willingness to slow down. Using basic materials like ink, pen and watercolours, attendees will create artworks inspired by the forest and river surroundings.
The R150 ticket covers everything: guided art facilitation, use of materials, and the trail fee. All you need to bring is yourself (and perhaps a hat and good humour if the sun decides to join in).
A Collaboration Rooted in Creativity
This new monthly series is the brainchild of My Creative Fix, known for curating creative experiences that get people making and connecting, and Hartspad, a local adventure venue with trails designed for more than just running or riding, they’re perfect for reflection and inspiration too.
Together, they’re giving Potchefstroom an art adventure that’s more about presence and play than precision.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to swap your studio walls for trees and your Wi-Fi for birdsong, this might be your sign. Shadow Art isn’t about producing a masterpiece, it’s about letting nature do the teaching while you do the noticing. Bring an open mind, maybe a coffee, and prepare to get a little lost in the best possible way.
