The Course at a Glance
North West Cricket is running its Level 1 Umpires Course through the North West Cricket Umpires Association (NWCUA). The two-day course is set for 27 – 28 September 2025 and promises to cover the essentials of cricket officiating for those wanting to get more involved in the game.
When and Where
Registration: 08:00 on the first day
Venue: Supporters Lounge, JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom
Address: JB Marks Oval, Thabo Mbeki Way, Bult, Potchefstroom, 2531, South Africa
What It Costs
The course fee is R350.00 per person. Not bad for two days of laws, signals, and probably a fair bit of explaining why a batsman was actually out even if his teammates disagree.
RSVP Details
Those wanting to secure a spot need to RSVP by 23 September 2025. The contact person is Johan Louw, who can be reached on 082-325-5057.
Why It Matters
Umpiring isn’t just about wearing a wide-brimmed hat and looking stern at square leg. It’s a chance to deepen knowledge of the game and keep cricket running smoothly. The course gives aspiring umpires the tools they need to step confidently onto the field.
North West Cricket has laid out the basics: time, place, cost and contact. Now it’s up to those interested in joining the next intake to get in touch before the RSVP deadline and be ready to trade the armchair for the crease.
