Although Dinki is a day residence for women living in private accommodation, the vibrant Dinki Clubhouse is the heart of its community. Located opposite the F10 building, the clubhouse creates a space where residents can gather, build bonds, and actively participate in residence activities. The residence office, open Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:00, is a busy hub that welcomes visitors with open arms. Here you’ll experience the energy and warmth that make Dinki so unique.

Vision and Mission
Dinki Women’s Residence is guided by a clear vision and mission focused on personal growth, active participation, and pride.
Vision
To give every woman an equal opportunity to take an active part in student life at NWU. To help residents develop their talents and gifts through well-organized residence activities. To provide a supportive environment where each member can find her place and build meaningful relationships.
Mission
Dinki aims to shape women into mature, stylish, and professional individuals who are ready to make an impact in the world after completing their studies.
The residence operates on four key pillars:
Stylish Image: Encouraging confidence and elegance.
Active Participation: Promoting involvement in campus and residence activities.
Unity That Makes a Difference: Building a strong community with shared goals.
Absolute Pride: Celebrating the residence’s rich tradition and history.

Petronella: The Dinki Mascot
Petronella, Dinki’s beloved mascot, plays a key role in the residence’s identity. After the famous “death” of Petronella the First in 2013, Petronella the Second took her place as Dinki’s new symbolic leader. Petronella is treated with great respect and may only be handled by House Committee members. When not in use, she is safely stored, a symbol of the residence’s respect for and pride in its traditions.
Unique Traditions
Dinki’s traditions are optional but celebrated with pride: Glasses, not Bottles: Dinki women never drink alcohol straight from the bottle, they always use glasses, symbolizing their style and elegance.
Tunnels, not Corridors: Social spaces at Dinki are called tunnels, because mice, like their mascot, live underground in tunnels, reflecting the residence’s playful and unique culture.
What Dinki Offers
Dinki is more than just a residence, it’s a community where women are encouraged to grow, learn, and fully enjoy their student life.
Supportive Community
With a strong emphasis on sisterhood and family values, Dinki offers residents a community where lifelong friendships are formed. Its central campus location makes it easy for students to balance academic and social life.

The residence encourages residents to dream big and pursue their ambitions through active participation in residence and campus activities. With its long history and symbolic mascot, Dinki prides itself on a unique identity.
