Science in Action This Winter
Potchefstroom’s North-West University (NWU) Science Centre is once again opening its doors for the school holiday season, offering a hands-on, no-nonsense approach to science. The Holiday Programme, running from 30 June to 4 July 2025, promises to keep school kids aged 11 to 15 (Grades 5-11) entertained and engaged.
What’s on the Cards?
Forget the usual school holiday boredom. This year’s theme is Biological Sciences, and the NWU team isn’t messing around. The jam-packed itinerary includes activities that’ll have learners exploring:
The Human Respiratory System
Forensic Science (yup, fingerprints and all!)
The World of Arachnids
The Human Torso (not literally dissecting, thank goodness)
Environmental Sciences, with a deep dive into water pollution and purification
They’ll even throw in a few photo-ops around the campus, because what’s science without a killer selfie?
All the Details You Need

You can also snoop around their website at https://natural-sciences.nwu.ac.za or check them out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/NWU.FNAS. And for those who like to share: there’s even a QR code on the flyer that’ll whisk you straight to the booking form.
It’s not every day kids get to play scientist in a real lab. So, if you’re looking to swap out the TV for test tubes, NWU’s Holiday Programme is worth a look. After all, they say science is all about curiosity, and a bit of messy fun along the way.
