Wine lovers will have a reason to raise their glasses at North-West University’s upcoming Wine Tasting Evening, hosted by Boland Cellar and presented by Darran Shuttle. The event takes place at D’Vine Ven’U, Building H4 on the NWU Campus (Dampad Dining Hall), starting at 18:30.
For R295 per person, guests can enjoy an evening of carefully selected wines paired with a hearty meal. Tickets are available through Quicket, and all attendees will need to present their tickets upon arrival, no exceptions, even for those who “left it in the car.”
A Night to Sip, Savour and Socialise
This isn’t a lecture in oenology, it’s a relaxed evening for anyone keen to try new wines without the pressure of pretending to know what “notes of oak and spice” actually means. The event aims to bring together students, staff, and community members for a good-natured evening of sipping, chatting, and maybe learning a little about wine along the way.
Boland Cellar, known for their Melita Chenin Blanc 2019 (low alcohol), will take centre stage on the tasting tables. With Darran Shuttle guiding the experience, guests can expect a mix of insight and easygoing fun, less “sniff, swirl, spit” and more “pour, taste, enjoy.”
Ticket Details and Practicalities
Tickets cost R295, which includes the meal, and can be bought online at Quicket.
Sales close on 14 October 2025, so last-minute planners might want to move quickly before it’s sold out.
If you’re attending with friends or family and would like to share a table, organisers ask that you send an email with your preferred seating arrangements, because no one wants to spend the evening talking to someone else’s aunt by mistake.
Refunds can only be processed the day before the event, so think carefully before deciding that night classes suddenly sound more appealing than Chenin Blanc.
