The Pad.Langs Women’s Retreat is set to take place from 21 to 23 November 2025, promising a weekend away that mixes cycling, learning and a bit of laughing at oneself when the bike chain jumps off at the least convenient moment. Hosted in Potchefstroom, the retreat offers a chance for women to get together, ride together and figure out the finer points of staying upright on a mountain bike.
What the Weekend Includes
Participants will be accommodated on the Friday and Saturday nights and fed three meals a day which should keep everyone fuelled for the outrides and workshops. The schedule also includes special guests, PMBIA certified instructors and UCI qualified coaches who know their stuff and are ready to share it.
The retreat costs R2 000 per person and covers accommodation, meals, ride guides, workshops and guest speakers.
Mountain Bike Outrides
The outrides are designed to be beginner friendly with short distances and a no drop approach. No one is getting left behind unless they personally decide to stop and take photos or negotiate with a passing guinea fowl. It’s a space for riders who want to improve their confidence without feeling rushed.
Nutritional Guidance
There is also a focus on nutrition which means attendees will explore what to eat on a ride, how to balance meals and ways to fuel the day without feeling like a walking energy bar. The practical approach aims to help each rider figure out what works for them.
Bicycle Maintenance
Basic bush mechanics will also be covered because knowing how to sort out your bike in the middle of nowhere is a skill that can save both time and components. There will be guidance on cleaning a bike properly which, despite being nobody’s favourite chore, pays off in the long run.
Special Guest: Sarah Hill
The retreat features special guest Sarah Hill, an Integrative Performance Coach at MindShift Performance. She also runs training programmes at The Threshold Coaching and works as a mountain bike skills instructor at Skills and Drills Development.
She will offer advice on training for a first event, skills for newbies and dealing with fears on the bike. Her sessions are geared toward helping riders find confidence both on the trail and in themselves, which is the sort of thing most cyclists appreciate once they’ve survived their first rocky descent.

Judging by the programme, it’s shaping up to be a relaxed and informative weekend for women keen to develop their cycling skills, enjoy the outdoors and share a few stories over meals without anyone judging helmet hair.
Share this event with anyone who might need a weekend away from the usual routine and into something a bit more adventurous.
