Riding for a Cause
On Saturday 16 August 2025, Cyclo DNA will be the starting point for an energetic community event with a clear goal, raising funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. Hosted in partnership with the Reformed Church Potchefstroom East, the day will be filled with cycling challenges, activities for all ages, and plenty of friendly competition.
The focus is simple: get on a bike, take on a challenge, and help make a difference.

Group Ride
The day kicks off early with the Eleazer Out-and-Back Group Ride starting at 07:00 from Cyclo DNA. Cyclists can expect a sociable, steady ride that still offers enough distance to get the legs warmed up for the rest of the day.
Team Challenge: Spinathon
From 10:00, teams of four can jump into the 20-minute Spinathon challenge. The aim is to push hard, work together, and clock as much distance as possible. Entry is R1 000 per team, and as expected, bragging rights are included in the price.
Individual Challenge: Watt Battle
For the solo riders, the 400 Watts for Time Challenge will also start at 10:00. Competitors will push to hit and hold 400 watts for as long as possible, going head-to-head with rivals. Entry is R100 per person.
Obstacle Course and Kids’ Activities
Not all the action will be on stationary bikes. An obstacle course will be open for both young and old, plus there’ll be activities to keep kids busy. The plan includes boerewors rolls, pancakes, music, and a friendly vibe that should make it a good day out whether you’re riding or cheering from the sidelines.
Extra Features
From 09:00 to 12:00, the Youngster Track will be open at R20 per entry, giving younger riders a chance to take part. Meanwhile, local businesses and individuals are encouraged to challenge each other in the indoor Kickr Studio, all in good fun, but with the underlying aim of supporting a serious cause.
It’s not just about crossing a finish line, it’s about community spirit, a few laughs, and maybe a bit of lactic acid along the way. Every pedal stroke is a contribution to the fight against cancer. So, whether you’re in it for the wattage, the waffles, or just the vibe, 16 August at Cyclo DNA looks set to be a day worth showing up for.
