SAAHST College in Potchefstroom is offering a two-day short course that might just make you rethink what sugar is good for. The college’s next short course, focused on the ancient art of sugaring (not the kind you stir into tea), will run from 22 to 23 August 2025.
What’s Sugaring Anyway?
Sugaring is a natural hair removal method that’s been around since the days of Cleopatra, because apparently, even the ancient Egyptians couldn’t stand a rogue leg hair. The process involves a paste made from sugar, lemon juice and water, applied to the skin and whipped off in the direction of hair growth.
The appeal? It’s less painful than waxing, gentle on the skin and has a solid track record of keeping ingrowns at bay. If you’re in the beauty business, or even just fascinated by the idea of yanking out hair with dessert ingredients, this one’s for you.
Course Breakdown
The course includes both theory and practical training, so don’t expect to just sit back and sweet talk your way through it. You’ll need to complete:
A portfolio of evidence
A practical examination
A theoretical examination
It’s designed for beauty professionals, salon assistants, or anyone keen to expand their offering with an eco-friendly treatment clients actually like.
