The Potch Polocrosse Club is set to turn up the heat this Valentine’s Day, but it has nothing to do with wilting roses. Instead, the club is hosting a comprehensive Polocrosse Clinic on 14 and 15 February 2026, featuring veteran coach Bruce MacLarty. For those who haven't yet experienced the sport, polocrosse is essentially a mix of polo and lacrosse, requiring a fair bit of coordination and a horse that doesn't mind a racket swinging near its ears.

Saturday’s Line-up: Insurance and Action
The weekend kicks off early on Saturday, 14 February, with an 8:00 am start. While most people might be scrambling for last-minute chocolates, the club will be hosting Johann Roux, the CEO and founder of Giddy Up, at 10:00 am. Roux plans to chat about horse insurance and various equestrian products. It is a practical addition to the morning, as anyone who has seen the pace of a polocrosse match knows that a bit of insurance is never a bad idea.
Following the presentation, the real action begins at 2:15 pm with the start of the afternoon session.
Sunday Wrap-up
The momentum continues into Sunday, 15 February. The horses and riders will be back on the field for an 8:00 am start, followed by a quick snack break at the field at 10:00 am. The clinic officially wraps up at 12:30 pm with a weekend debriefing session to discuss what was learned, and likely to nurse a few stiff muscles.
Spectators and Newcomers Welcome
For those who have never seen the sport in person, the club has opened the doors to the public with free entry. It is a low-stakes way to see if the "equestrian game changer" is for you. The event takes place at Plot 85, Wilgeboom, and the club is encouraging anyone interested in Polocrosse or Western Mounted Games to pop in and have a look.
