A Slice of Something Different
On 8 August 2025, the Purple Carrot School of Culinary Art is hosting a hands-on sushi-making experience that’s anything but bland. It’s called the Sushi Edutainment Experience, and the name pretty much says it all, part education, part entertainment, entirely sushi.
Set at the school’s venue at 2 Luke Street in Potchefstroom, this event aims to give attendees a crash course in rolling sushi, with a strong emphasis on fun (and probably a bit of rice-flinging).
Eight Rolls, One Afternoon
Participants won’t just watch someone else do the work, this is a fully hands-on class where you’ll learn to make eight different types of sushi. Whether you’re a novice who struggles with seaweed or someone who’s just there for the salmon roses, there’s something to sink your chopsticks into.
The experience promises to be fresh and flavour-packed, which, if we’re honest, is also how we’d describe most sushi. There’s no mention of wasabi-induced tears, but come prepared.
The Damage and the Details
The event costs R650 per person. Space is limited, so those keen on joining shouldn’t leave it until the last minute (or worse, try to rock up sushi-less and hope for the best).
Bookings are all done via WhatsApp:
Thea: 082 556 0779
Kayna: 072 396 3916 (calls or WhatsApp welcome)
So, if your idea of a good Friday involves sticky rice, soy sauce, and a mildly competitive fish-rolling session, this might be your kind of edutainment. Just leave your avo snobbery at the door, everyone rolls equally here.
