It turns out that quilling, the art of rolling little bits of paper into curly masterpieces, isn’t just for Victorian greeting cards or craft-store Pinterest boards. It’s alive and well in Potchefstroom, where My Creative Fix is hosting a Quilling & Paper Art Workshop that promises a couple hours of therapeutic twisting, laughing, and maybe even a bit of creative chaos.
The Details (Because You Need Them)
Date: Saturday, 31 May 2025
Time: 14:00 – 16:00
Venue: 9 Reitz Street, Baillie Park, Potchefstroom
Cost: R300 per person
Booking Site: mycreativefix.co.za
You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to try, a bit of patience, and the ability to sip coffee without gluing your fingers together.
What You'll Be Doing (Other Than Laughing at Your First Attempts)
This two-hour workshop is led by the ever-enthusiastic Cheryl and Leanne, who’ll walk you through the basics of quilling, how to roll, twist and shape paper strips like a boss. Once you’ve mastered the curly-wurly magic, you’ll turn your paper wizardry into a 3D monogram that’s as unique as your playlist.
And yes, the end product is gift-worthy. Think: fancy initials surrounded by flowers, flourishes, and a whole lot of personality.
What’s Included?
All materials (paper, tools, and a frame, stylish, of course)
A hands-on, step-by-step lesson
Tea, coffee, and basic refreshments (because crafting is thirsty work)
A good laugh or two, guaranteed
Why Join?
Honestly, because it’s something different. It’s screen-free, chill, and you walk away with a one-of-a-kind piece you actually made. That’s more than you can say for most Saturday afternoons.
Also, you don’t have to bring a thing, except maybe a mate, or your creative mojo.
Come for the curls, stay for the coffee.
