Stop the Bleed Workshop Heads to Potchefstroom - 23 August

If you're the kind of person who freezes at the sight of blood, this might be the workshop that changes everything. On 23 August 2025, Wild Medix, in collaboration with Tier 1 Alliance, is bringing their accredited "Stop the Bleed" first aid course to Potchefstroom. And no, it’s not just for paramedics or action heroes. This is for everyone, especially those who live, work, or parent around people (so... everyone).

Life-Saving Skills in Five Hours

The workshop will run from 08:00 to 13:00 at Tier 1 Alliance / Tenex Potch, located at 83 Peter Mokaba Street. For R750 per person, participants will be taught how to manage bleeding emergencies, including how to use tourniquets and haemostatic (blood clotting) agents for wound packing.

Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death. Preventable being the key word here. The logic is simple: if someone’s bleeding and you don’t stop it, they could die. But with some basic training and kit, you could be the difference between “they were lucky” and “we lost them”.

Who Should Be There?

This course is ideal for:

  • Parents and guardians

  • Teachers and school staff

  • Church or faith group leaders

  • Elderly caregivers

  • Security personnel

  • Farmers, handymen, and construction workers

  • Shop owners and employees

  • Neighborhood watch groups

Basically, if your daily life involves being around other humans, you probably qualify.

What’s in the Course?

Accredited by the American College of Surgeons and based on the Hartford Consensus, the course is tailored for the South African context. Wild Medix doesn’t just hand out a certificate and call it a day, they run the course with proper training gear and practical drills. And yes, you’ll learn how to pack a wound, not just talk about it.

Skills taught include:

  • Tourniquet application

  • Wound packing using haemostatic agents

  • Scene safety and bleeding assessment

And If You’re Still Thinking “Not for Me”...

Just imagine this: you’re at a braai, someone slices their hand on a broken bottle, and suddenly everyone’s looking at you. You’ll want more than just boerie-flipping skills.

So whether you're in the city, out in the bush, or just curious about how to not panic with a first aid kit in your hands, this course might just be the most useful five hours you'll ever spend.

Book it. Show up. Learn to stop the bleed.
