The Battle for ONE Champion Returns to Potchefstroom Country Club - 28 to 30 November

The greens at the Potchefstroom Country Club are set to heat up once again as the Battle for ONE Champion bowls event rolls into town from 28 to 30 November 2025. With R40,000 in price money and 24 teams vying for the title, it promises to be three days of competitive fun, questionable tactics, and the occasional “I swear it was the wind” excuse.

Format and Entry

Each team will need four players, with the format set as Trips, which, in typical bowls fashion, doesn’t involve any travel but will definitely include plenty of rolling. Teams can take advantage of rolling subs (for those who need a breather or a chat at the clubhouse) and power plays, because even lawn bowls needs a bit of drama.

The entry fee is R3,000 per team, and the organisers are keeping things tight with a cap at 24 teams. Those keen to take part need to enter before 31 October 2025, or risk watching from the sidelines while pretending they were “never planning to play anyway”.

Team Auction and Bragging Rights

This year’s twist comes in the form of a Team Auction, where squads will go under the proverbial hammer. Whether that means strategic bidding or friendly sabotage remains to be seen, but it’s bound to add another layer of excitement to an already lively weekend.

As always, there can only be ONE Champion, and the winners will walk away with not just a solid share of the R40,000 but also some serious bragging rights at the clubhouse.
