From heartfelt community projects to safety talks, school pride, sports strategy, and even electrifying winter promos, Week 31 at The Go-To Guy was packed with stories that kept us inspired, informed, and connected. Let’s take a stroll through the week’s highlights and relive every moment together.

StroomStories 29 July We kicked off the week with a truly heartwarming session of StroomStories. Angelique joined us in studio to share the incredible Vat‑Verniet Tafel project. If you haven’t heard of it yet, this initiative is a shining example of love in action, providing food, clothing, and essential toiletries completely free to those in need.
The passion in Angelique’s voice as she explained how the community rallies together was enough to bring tears to our eyes. It’s not just about handing out items; it’s about restoring dignity and offering hope when times are tough.
📅 Next Giveaway: 16 August, 17:00 📍 Venue: Mooirivier Beskerming, Potchefstroom
Mark your calendars – this is one community effort you’ll want to support!

Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and this StroomStories reminded us exactly why. We sat down with the Deputy Chairperson of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) to talk about how this platform is making a real difference in Potchefstroom’s safety landscape.
From regular patrols to close collaboration with SAPS, the CPF’s efforts highlight what can happen when a community bands together. We discussed:
✅ What the CPF actually does
✅ Why community involvement is crucial
✅ How you can step in and be part of the solution
If you’ve ever wanted to play a role in making your neighborhood safer, this conversation was a perfect starting point.
Our Eyes in the Field

Before diving deeper into the week, we can’t forget that Build It Potchefstroom hit a massive milestone , 40 years of top-quality service and teamwork! Their journey is one of dedication and excellence, truly living up to the motto “Building it Better.” Forty years is no small feat, and it’s clear they’re only getting stronger from here. 30 July
Another moment of community pride unfolded as Laerskool M.L. Fick celebrated 135 years of Emmie heritage! From its humble beginnings as Armenschool back in 1890 to becoming a beacon of values and education, this school’s history is a testament to growth, character, and faithfulness. Every Emmie heart beats with the strength of that legacy and after 135 years, they stand taller than ever.

Animal lovers, this one’s for you! PAWS Haven Potchefstroom is bringing back their hilarious yet meaningful “Adopt Your Boss” event. On 8 August, you can nominate your boss (or even a daring colleague or friend) to spend some time in a kennel and they’ll need to “buy” their freedom with donations.
It’s all in good fun, but the goal is serious: raising funds to give cats and dogs a second chance at finding a loving home. So gather your team, bring your sense of humor, and join in on this pawsome cause.

Spiritual Talk
30 July
This week’s Spiritual Talk (Episode 38) took us on an emotional and uplifting journey. Pieter Conradie sat down with Pastoor Ruaan for a soul-stirring discussion titled “Herbou vanuit Gebroke Grond.”
Ever felt like everything in life has crumbled, leaving you with nothing but ruins? This conversation reminded us that God begins His greatest building projects exactly in those moments of brokenness. It was a powerful message of hope, perspective, and strength ,the kind you want to replay whenever life gets overwhelming.
SportStroom
30 July
Sports lovers, this one was for you! Our SportStroom session featured none other than Gordon Parsons and Jandre Jacobs, the brains behind Gimnasium’s cricket strategy for 2025.
Coach Parsons, known for his sharp cricket mind, and Director Jacobs shared their vision for the future of Gimmies cricket – from developing young talent to creating a legacy of excellence. It’s clear the school’s cricket program is in good hands and we can’t wait to see the results on the field.

SkoolKompas
