What a week it’s been! From inspiring student teachers to birthday bashes, live music, healthy living, sport development, and Ikageng’s unbeatable street culture, Week 34 gave us more than enough to celebrate and reflect on. Let’s take a look back at all the highlights that made the week special.

StroomStories 21 August – Oppi-Stoep Dansorkes We wrapped up Thursday in the studio with an absolute treat: Oppi-Stoep Dansorkes joined us on StroomStories.
Their music is full of life, their energy infectious, and their story inspiring. From their humble beginnings to the passion behind every note, they reminded us why live music is such a powerful force.
Of course, we also chatted about their upcoming Potch Geesfees performance. Save the date: Saturday, 30 August at 15:00 at Lekwena. Trust us, you’ll want to be there when they bring the house down!

SkoolKompas 18 August -Why Become a Teacher?
Monday brought us inspiration straight from the classroom. On SkoolKompas, we welcomed three aspiring educators: Louisa Thompson, Lea Hugo, and Aleonor van Rijswijk, who had just completed three weeks of practical teaching at Laerskool President Pretorius.
Their stories reminded us why teaching is often called a calling. From the joy of seeing learners grasp new concepts to the responsibility of shaping young minds, these student teachers spoke with passion and conviction. It was a beautiful reminder that behind every great community are educators who give their all.
SportStroom 20 August – Coach Angelo & Team
Midweek, SportStroom gave us the chance to sit down with Coach Angelo Jacobs and his talented players, Robyn Smith and Keaghan Plaatjies. Their conversation was full of pride, grit, and love for the game.
From training drills to match-day mindset, they opened up about what drives them forward and how teamwork isn’t just something you do on the field, it’s a lifestyle. If you missed it, go back and catch this talk - it’s packed with lessons about discipline, passion, and pushing limits.

Ikageng 16 August – Street Battles Bring the Heat
We started the week with pure fire on the courts of Ikageng. The Ikageng Basketball Court turned into the ultimate stage as street dancers battled it out under the banner of Black Saturday vibes. Sneakers squeaked, music blasted, and the energy was contagious.
What stood out wasn’t just the incredible moves, but the sense of unity - people from all corners of the community came together to cheer, clap, and shout encouragement. This wasn’t just a dance-off; it was proof that Ikageng knows how to move and groove like no other. 20 August – Get a Hockey Boost
Ikageng also had something exciting happening on the 20th as the South African Hockey Association introduced Modified Hockey to Promosa. Workshops, coaching courses, and equipment handovers were all part of the day, aiming to empower teachers and learners with the tools to grow the sport locally.
It’s not just about developing players, it’s about giving kids the chance to experience teamwork, discipline, and the joy of playing. A new chapter for hockey in Ikageng is officially being written!

Our Eyes in the Field 18 August – Shelving Galore From classrooms to clever storage solutions, we also paid a visit to Shelving Galore in Parys. Let’s be honest, life throws us all kinds of baggage, but luckily these guys have the shelves to hold it all.
Strong, practical, and exactly what you need to bring order to chaos, their shelving solutions are a must-see. And here’s a little bonus: use The Go-To Guy’s advert and you’ll score 5% off your purchase. Neatness, sorted. 20 August – Green Health: Partner in Wellness
We also stopped by Green Health, where wellness meets science. From liver metabolism tests to detoxification programs, their offerings are designed for those wanting to live healthier, fuller lives.
They specialise in everything from tackling chronic fatigue to supporting colon health, autoimmune conditions, and sports performance.
Their Green Health Lifestyle concept takes it a step further, helping you look at health from a holistic angle. If you’re serious about investing in your body, this is the place to start. 20 August – Build It Turns 20!
And speaking of celebrations, Build It Potchefstroom is marking a huge milestone,20 years of service to the community. From humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name for DIY enthusiasts, contractors, and households, Build It has built more than just homes - they’ve built trust.
To celebrate, they rolled out BIG birthday deals across a wide range of products, valid until 6 September 2025. If you’re planning upgrades, this is your chance to grab supplies at incredible prices.
21 August – Countdown to the Big Build It Party
The excitement kept building as we hit the one-day countdown to Build It’s official birthday celebration. Customers were invited to join the festivities in-store on Wolmarans Street for exclusive specials, giveaways, and the chance to be part of the celebrations.
And trust us, the buzz in town was real, everyone wanted in on the party!
21 August – Pick n Pay Canal Crossing: Prys Palooza
Also on Thursday, it was bargain time at Pick n Pay Canal Crossing with their Prys Palooza. From meat deals to cleaning products, these specials were almost too good to believe. The aisles were buzzing with shoppers making sure they didn’t miss out.
If you’ve ever needed proof that Potch loves a good special, Canal Crossing gave it in spades this week. Looking Back at Week 34
From Ikageng’s street battles to student teachers making their mark, from wellness breakthroughs to birthdays and live music, Week 34 had it all. It showed us, once again, that Potchefstroom and Ikageng are communities rich with passion, talent, and heart.
