SkoolKompas 20 October - Building Bright Beginnings at Hasie Hop Kleuterskool

We started the week with a visit to the world of little learners on SkoolKompas, where Drikus Viljoen sat down with Hettie Conradie, principal of Hasie Hop Kleuterskool.

Hettie shared the excitement around their upcoming Open Day and gave us a glimpse into what makes this school truly special. With a deep focus on early childhood development, Hasie Hop provides a nurturing, creative space where little ones are encouraged to explore, play, and learn with joy.

She also highlighted how play-based learning lays the foundation for confidence and curiosity ,essential building blocks for a bright academic future. Parents, mark your calendars - this is one Open Day you won’t want to miss!

SportStroom 22 October - Squash Finds Its Spark in Potchefstroom

Later in the week, SportStroom shone a spotlight on two passionate advocates for youth sport ,Alwyn and Cara, who are on a mission to grow squash among primary school learners in Potchefstroom.

With high schools already running a competitive league, these two believe it’s time to introduce the game earlier. And with squash officially joining the Olympic Games in 2028, there’s never been a better time to get kids involved!

They explained how squash builds not just fitness and coordination, but also mental agility , skills that strengthen performance in sports like rugby, hockey, and netball. The interview left us inspired to pick up a racquet ourselves!

The weekend kicked off in style at Bonang Poolside, where good music, good people, and great vibes collided under the Potch sun. Local DJs kept the beats flowing, proving again that Ikageng knows how to bring the community together through rhythm and relaxation.

25 October - Build It Soccer Tournament – Grassroots Talent in Action

Saturday was all about grassroots football as Build It’s Soccer Tournament took over the Ikageng Stadium. Local primary schools faced off with passion and pride, showing the kind of skill and spirit that promises a bright future for Potch football.

Each match was played with heart , coaches cheering, families watching, and young athletes giving it their all. This is where tomorrow’s stars are born, and we’re proud to see local businesses like Build It investing in the youth of our community.

Looking Back at Week 43

From the laughter of toddlers at Hasie Hop Kleuterskool to the energy of marathon runners and the determination of young footballers, this week once again reminded us of what makes Potchefstroom and Ikageng so special , community, connection, and commitment.

Every story we shared showed people striving to make life a little brighter, whether through sport, business, or creativity. And as always, The Go-To Guy was there, capturing it all one moment at a time.
