It’s been another lively week in Potchefstroom, filled with sport, community spirit, family fun, and plenty of local action! From marathon fundraisers to family karting and riverside fishing, Week 45 had us on the go and loving every moment. Here’s your friendly rundown of everything we captured this week.

SportStroom
3 November - Max Williamson’s 175 km of Heart & Hope
This week’s SportStroom kicked off with a truly inspiring story. Max Williamson ran an incredible 175 km from Lichtenburg to Potchefstroom, every step fuelled by determination and compassion. His mission? To raise funds and awareness for the Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis, giving hope to children who need it most.
Max shared with Drikus Viljoen how he prepared for the physical and emotional demands of such a monumental journey, and how every kilometre reminded him of the resilience and strength of the children he was running for. His story is proof that when passion meets purpose, miracles happen.

5 November - NWU: Investing in Tomorrow’s Talent
Later in the week, SportStroom shifted gears to celebrate North-West University’s Marketing and Student Recruitment team, who are making a massive difference through school sponsorships and student support programmes.
From sports and cultural sponsorships to academic bursaries and community development, NWU continues to build bridges between education and opportunity. The team discussed how initiatives like the NWU Sports Series and athletics events across South Africa not only grow young talent but also nurture future leaders. As they reminded us, marketing isn’t just about visibility, it’s about creating meaningful growth.

SkoolKompas
This week, our SkoolKompas team took a short break to prepare for the next round of inspiring school visits and interviews. Stay tuned, next week we’re back in the classrooms, where passion for education meets stories that shape the future.

It’s a community effort led by Potch Geesfees volunteers, transforming a once-dull stretch into a vibrant symbol of local pride. Got green fingers? Drop off your plants behind Kooperasie Kroeg & Kos, or join the WhatsApp group to help with the next planting day.
