Welcome back, Potchefstroom! We’ve officially crossed into the middle of April 2026, and the pace in our beautiful city isn't showing any signs of slowing down.

This week, the Go-To Guy team has been balancing the "now" and the "then",from the launch of trendy new eateries and the arrival of world-class tool ranges to somber deep dives into our local history and municipal governance.
Whether you’re looking to finish a DIY project, grab a world-class burger, or understand the administrative shifts in our municipality, Week 15 has something for everyone. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in for your 10-minute briefing on the life and times of Potchefstroom and Ikageng.
Our Eyes in the Field: Potchefstroom
Our "Eyes in the Field" team has been zigzagging across town this week, from the bustling Steve Biko Street to the quiet, hallowed grounds of Alexander Park. Here is the chronological breakdown of the week that was.
April 13: A New Spot on the Bult – Stud. Burger is Open!
We kicked off the week with some mouth-watering news for the foodies and students of Potch. Stud. Burger has officially opened its doors in Steve Biko Street!
The Bult has always been the heartbeat of Potchefstroom's social scene, and this new addition is already turning heads. Our team popped in to get a first look at the interior and the vibe, and it’s safe to say they’ve nailed the "urban-cool" aesthetic. If you’re looking for a new "spot" to grab a bite between classes or a Friday night treat, watch our video tour and then head over to Steve Biko Street to taste what the hype is about.
April 14: Value Meets Variety – Ingco at Build it
On Tuesday, our focus shifted to the builders and DIY enthusiasts. We visited the floor at Build it to check out their impressive Ingco range.
Ingco has rapidly become a favorite for both professionals and home-improvement hobbyists because of its incredible balance between durability and price. The full range is currently on the floor, and the team at Build it is running some fantastic specials. If you’ve been putting off that home project, now is the time to get more value for your money.

April 16: Heritage and History – A Visit to Alexander Park
Thursday was a day of reflection as we stepped away from the commercial hustle to visit the historic Alexander Park Cemetery.
We had the privilege of walking through the grounds with Johan Wolfaardt, the Vice-Chairman of Heritage Potch Erfenis. Johan shared fascinating insights into the "stories behind the gravestones",the pioneers and residents who built the foundation of the town we live in today.
It was a sobering reminder of the importance of preserving our heritage sites. Often, we drive past these areas without realizing the rich history buried right next to us. Our latest video feature explores this in detail; it’s a must-watch for anyone who loves the history of our town.
April 16: Accountability – The MPAC Governance Crisis Report
In a shift toward civic duty and accountability, we also reported on a developing story within the JB Marks Local Municipality.
The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) has officially flagged a significant governance crisis and widespread administrative non-compliance. This report highlights serious concerns regarding how our local municipality is being managed.
At The Go-To Guy, we believe in keeping our community informed on the "uncomfortable" news just as much as the "good" news, as transparency is the only way toward a better-functioning city.
April 16: More Gear! Ingco Arrives at Flotek
It seems April is the month of Ingco! For those located closer to the industrial area, Flotek has also announced that they are now officially stocking a wide variety of Ingco products.
There’s no longer a need to drive across town to find high-quality tools for your plumbing or mechanical projects. Having a range this versatile available at Flotek makes it even easier to get all your professional equipment under one roof.
April 17: Finishing Projects with Oppi Copy
We wrapped up the week by visiting the team at Oppi Copy. If you have a project that needs a professional finish, this is your one-stop shop.
From personal home decor like high-quality canvases to professional business needs like custom stickers and Plexiglas signage, they do it all.
Keep an Eye Out:
They are very active on social media, which is the best place to catch their latest specials and competitions.
Convenience: They are open Monday through Friday, and, crucially for those of us with busy schedules, they are also open on Saturdays.

Ikageng: Energy, Art, and the Basketball Court
While Potchefstroom was busy with business and history, Ikageng was alive with the sound of music and the rhythm of the streets.
April 13: "Payback Time" at the Basketball Court
If you weren't at the basketball court this past Saturday, you missed something special. Payback Time brought the heat for an afternoon of high-intensity dance and community vibes.
Ikageng’s street culture is thriving, and the talent on display was truly "next level." Our team captured the highlights, and the energy in the footage speaks for itself. Shoutout to every dancer who left it all on the floor, the passion and discipline it takes to perform at that level is exactly what we love to see in our community. Stay tuned to our Ikageng feed for the realest updates on the local scene.
Final Thoughts
Week 15 has been a perfect example of the balance we strive for at The Go-To Guy. We want to celebrate the new (like Stud. Burger), support the local economy (like Build it and Oppi Copy), and respect the past (like Alexander Park).
Even while our StroomStories studio is taking a short break, we are out there every day ensuring you don't miss a beat. Whether it’s at the stadium, the cemetery, or the shopping center, we are your eyes and ears in the field.
