Welcome back to the latest edition of The Go-To Guy Weekly Diary. As we reach the midpoint of March 2026, the energy in Potchefstroom is reaching a boiling point, and we aren't just talking about the late-summer heat!

Over the past two weeks (Weeks 11 and 12), our "Eyes in the Field" team has been navigating a landscape of high-performance machinery, essential home maintenance, and the roar of the local rugby crowds. While our StroomStories studio remains closed for the time being, we’ve found that the best stories are often told right where the action is: on the sidelines of the rugby pitch and the workshop floors of our local industry leaders.
Our Eyes in the Field: Potchefstroom
From electrical essentials to rugged off-road transformations, we’ve been tracking the businesses that keep this city powered up and moving forward.
March 11: Powering Up and Cooling Down at Build it
The week began with a focus on a universal challenge: managing the South African heat while keeping the lights on. We spent the morning exploring the electrical department at Build it Potchefstroom, and it’s safe to say they are fully loaded for any project.
Whether you are a seasoned electrician or a weekend DIY warrior, having the right components is non-negotiable for safety and efficiency. We took a closer look at their comprehensive range:
Beating the Heat: With the March sun still biting, their wide selection of high-quality fans has been a lifesaver for many locals.
The Full Circuit: From basic wiring and plugs to heavy-duty leads and essential circuit breakers, they have the stock to ensure your next project meets the highest standards.
One-Stop Shopping: The convenience of finding quality electrical gear alongside your building materials makes Build it a strategic stop for any home renovation.
March 11: Behind the Scenes with Flo-Tek
Later that day, we switched gears to the corporate side of things. The Go-To Guy team was hard at work producing a new marketing video for Flo-Tek. It’s always a privilege to go behind the scenes with a company that plays such a massive role in our local infrastructure. Seeing their precision and scale first-hand reminds us why they remain leaders in the piping and water-solution industry. Keep an eye on our platforms for the final cut!
March 14: A Super Saturday of Rugby and Family Fun
Saturday was all about the "gees!" There is nothing quite like a weekend at the Potchefstroom Rugby Club, and March 14th delivered in a big way.
We were on the sidelines for an action-packed day as the Potch Dorp Rugby teams took to the field. But the day wasn't just for the die-hard rugby fans; it was a true family affair.
The Action: We were thrilled to provide Live Streaming for both the 2nd and 1st team matches, ensuring that supporters who couldn't make it to the grounds didn't miss a single try or conversion.
For the Kids: The jumping castle was a massive hit, keeping the little ones entertained while the parents cheered on the boys.
The Result: A day of high-quality rugby, community spirit, and great memories.

March 18: Transforming the "Weekend Warrior" at Tiger Wheel & Tyre
Wednesday saw us heading over to Tiger Wheel & Tyre Potchefstroom, which has officially cemented itself as the ultimate 4x4 Fitment Centre in the region.
If you live for the off-road life, you know that your vehicle is only as good as the gear you put on it. We captured some incredible footage of the team in action, transforming a standard bakkie into a rugged adventure machine. This isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about safety and capability when you’re miles away from the nearest tar road.
Get Adventure Ready with Global Brands:
Rhinoman, Ironman 4x4, and Front Runner: They carry the gold standard in off-road equipment.
The Essentials: Beyond the big upgrades, they handle the critical "health checks" like precision alignment, wheel collision repair, and fresh batteries to ensure your expedition doesn't end prematurely.
March 20: Supplier Day at Build it Potchefstroom
The energy was palpable on Friday as we went live from Build it Potchefstroom for their massive Supplier Day. For anyone in the trade, contractors, builders, or serious DIYers, this was the place to be.
It was an action-packed day where the "Yes We Can!" motto truly came to life. Locals had the rare opportunity to meet the experts behind their favorite brands and get professional, technical advice on their specific projects.
Who we saw on-site:
Tool Masters: Ryobi and Ingco were there showcasing the latest in power tool technology.
The Foundations: Experts from Sephaku Cement and Blue Spot Water provided insights into the "bones" of any good build.
The Finishing Touches: Hamilton’s was on hand for that perfect finish, alongside Seaqual, Toolmaster, and Elegant Cornicing.
It was a fantastic day of networking and learning, proving once again that Build it is more than just a hardware store,it’s a knowledge hub for the community.
March 21: More Live Rugby Action
We wrapped up the fortnight exactly where we love to be: back at the rugby. On March 21st, we once again hosted a Live Stream for the Potchefstroom Rugby Club.
From the first whistle to the final tackle, we brought the game into the living rooms of fans across the country. Supporting the local boys is a priority for us, and we are proud to provide the platform that lets everyone join in the excitement.
Final Thoughts
Weeks 11 and 12 have been a testament to the grit and passion of Potchefstroom. Whether it's the meticulous work of a 4x4 technician or the raw power of a prop on the rugby field, this town doesn't do anything halfway.
Even with the StroomStories studio temporarily closed, our mission remains the same: to be your "Go-To" for everything happening in our streets. We’ll see you out there!
