Riverside Restaurant at Oudrift Riverside Lodge is preparing for the upcoming Valentine’s weekend with two distinct ways to celebrate. Whether the preference is for a formal seated dinner or a more relaxed afternoon on the grass, the Riverside Restaurant has organised specific menus for the occasion.

A Choice Between Tables and Blankets

The lodge is offering a duo of romantic experiences. For those who prefer a traditional evening out, the Romantic Dinner takes place on Saturday, 14 February 2026. If a daytime setting sounds more appealing, Picnic Baskets are available on both Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th between 11h00 and 15h00.

For the picnic option, guests are reminded to bring their own blankets to ensure a comfortable spot in the garden.

The Dinner Menu

The restaurant has set a fixed price of R895 per couple for the evening service. The night begins with a welcome drink of non-alcoholic sparkling wine before moving into a three-course meal.

The starter features chicken rissoles served with rocket and pesto. For the main course, guests can choose between the lodge’s well-known oxtail with rice or mash, or a chicken cordon bleu stuffed with ham, mozzarella, and peppadews. These are accompanied by a variety of sides, including creamy spinach with feta, caramel pumpkin fritters, garlic butter baby potatoes, and a green salad. The meal concludes with chocolate mousse topped with strawberries and cream.

Tables are available in two separate seatings, the first at 16h00 and the second at 19h00.

Picnic Particulars

For those heading outdoors, the picnic baskets are priced at R695 per basket. The food selection is substantial, offering a choice between 400g of chicken strips with 1000 Island sauce or a combination of 300g of smoked BBQ pork ribs and 300g of chicken strips.

The basket is rounded out with:

Chicken rissoles and potato salad
Olives and feta
Chocolate-coated croissants and dipped marshmallows
Plain strawberries and chocolate mousse for two
A 750ml bottle of JC Le Roux sparkling wine (available in alcoholic or non-alcoholic versions)

Essential Logistics

Because space is limited at the riverside, bookings are essential for both the dinner and the picnic. For the dinner service, those requiring vegetarian alternatives must make arrangements with the kitchen prior to the event.

While the dinner only requires a booking, the picnic baskets require both a reservation and pre-payment to secure the spot.
