Here we go again with another week full of stories, giveaways, special visits, and incredible people from our beautiful Potch community. Week 23 gave us everything from fishing tips and safety talks to heartfelt interviews and full-throttle events. So let’s dive into the week that was!
Stroom Stories 3 June – StroomStories with Zelona van der Merwe
In this episode, we sat down with Zelona van der Merwe, a proud former Potchefstromer and current councillor for VF Plus, who has dedicated her life to community upliftment. This was a powerful reminder of the passion and purpose right here in our town. 5 June – StroomStories: Community Safety with CPF
We hosted the Community Policing Forum (CPF) leaders for a powerful talk on how we all play a role in building safer neighborhoods. From patrols to public collaboration with SAPD, this was a story of responsibility, commitment, and hope.
SportStroom 2 June- SportStroom with Schalk van Breda
Back by popular demand, Schalk joined us once again,this time to unpack the secrets of winter fishing! If you missed it, head to our page and soak up all the cold-water wisdom. 4 June – SportStroom: President Pretorius Primary School
We chatted with the netball and athletics organiser, Rinda van Staden, from Laerskool President Pretorius, who shared her secret to balancing sports and schooling success. Potch’s next generation is in good hands!
Spiritual Talk 4 June – Spiritual Talk Ep. 34: Roots & Fruits
In a moving new episode, Pieter Conradie sat down with Ivan Venter to talk about growing deep in faith. From being rooted in truth to bearing the fruits of a strong spiritual life, this one’s for anyone seeking to grow, even in hard seasons.
Our Eyes in The Field 3 June – Winter Garden Ready with Build It
Need to frost-proof your garden? We paid a visit to Build It’s Garden & Outdoor section, where everything from frost covers to tools and bone meal was on display. Your garden doesn’t have to sleep through winter, keep it growing strong! 3 June – Visit to Wippie & Snippie Speelskool
We caught up with the caring team at Wippie en Snippie Speelskool, a place where little ones (including those with special needs) are welcomed with love, learning, and support. Small class sizes, nutritious meals, and flexible programs make this a gem in early childhood education. 6 June – On Location: Sunnyside River Lodge & Trolley Dash Action
It was a busy day as we filmed a promo video at Sunnyside River Lodge (trust us, you’re going to want to win that getaway ) and captured the energy at the Pick n Pay Canal Crossing Trolley Dash. Some seriously lucky shoppers dashed their way through aisles, chaotic, exciting, and full of laughs! 7 June – Potchefstroom Airshow Magic!
We were on the ground (and looking up!) at the Potchefstroom Airshow, and what a day it was. From roaring engines to sky-high stunts, Potch once again proved it knows how to put on a show.
Giveaways We Launched This Week 2 June - Pimenta Portuguese Cuisine Giveaway Launch
Who doesn’t love great food? We kicked off a delicious R250 voucher giveaway with Pimenta Hand Crafted Portuguese Cuisine! All you had to do was tag friends and show your love for authentic flavour. 2 June - Father’s Day Competitions Begin!
June started strong with not one, but TWO Father’s Day competitions!
