From quick action by first responders and security teams to public shoutouts and powerful moments of remembrance, residents continue to play a vital role in local safety. This week’s round-up covers a variety of key incidents, from attempted thefts and recovered stolen livestock to essential fire danger alerts, community tips, and tribute to lives lost on 9/11. 🕯️ 9/11 Remembered
On 11 September, the world paused to honour the memory of the 2,997 civilians, 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 8 EMTs/paramedics who lost their lives in the 2001 Twin Towers tragedy. All Remembered.
🚑 Shoutout to IMR Ambulance Service
A heartfelt message of appreciation was shared this week for Magiel Erasmus and Estian from IMR Ambulansdienste, who assisted a patient transfer from Potchefstroom Hospital to Baragwanath. Their professionalism, continuous monitoring, and unmatched advocacy on arrival stood out. They even negotiated priority medical attention for the patient. True dedication to care!
📼 1982 Throwback & First Response Reflection
A nostalgic video highlighted how nosebleeds, hyperventilation, and stomach pains still make up many emergency calls. Though decades apart, some things never change.

🔐 Suspicious Activity Alert – Bult West
A man carrying a tyre repair tool, often repurposed for criminal break-ins, was intercepted by Cachet Park CID. Quick community reporting ensured the individual was stopped before any damage could be done.
🐄 Stolen Cattle Recovered – 12 September
Thanks to vigilant Bellrex Innovations (CCTV) and Mooirivier Beskerming, four stolen cattle (worth ~R100,000) were recovered from a suspicious Isuzu bakkie and trailer. SAPS arrested the suspects and secured the animals. This highlights the power of community-police cooperation.

🚨 Suspect Arrested – CB Security CCTV Monitoring
On 13 September, a suspect was caught trying to steal clothing off a washing line. CCTV operators spotted the trespasser, and CB’s Armed Response detained him. He was also found with bank cards, an ID, and other stolen items.SAPS later arrested him. Great work from the team!
🔥 Apartment Fire – Dwars Street
Reports of a fire in an apartment block in Dwars Street were quickly contained by the JBM Fire Brigade. No injuries reported.

On 17 September, a grass fire erupted in MC Roode Avenue. The JB Marks Fire Brigade responded swiftly and contained the flames.
