This report summarises key community safety alerts, infrastructure notices, crime prevention tips, and emergency updates for the Potchefstroom area, as received by First Responders Potchefstroom and local safety networks. It includes verified updates from 4 to 10 September 2025.

4 September: Infrastructure Hazard – Bult Area
A manhole collapsed at the intersection of Gerrit Dekker and Steve Biko Streets in the Bult area. Cachet Park CID confirmed that the municipality was informed and that workers were already in attendance. Motorists were advised to drive with caution as maintenance teams were working in the roadway.
5 September: Multiple Accident Reports & FPA Disclaimer
Vehicle Collisions:
Nelson Mandela Drive & Parys Avenue: A crash occurred at the intersection. All authorities were on the scene, and the public was advised to avoid the area.
Parys Road (10km from Potch): Another accident occurred, partially obstructing one lane. Drivers were asked to proceed carefully.
Potchefstroom Fire Protection Association Notice:The PFPA released a disclaimer reminding the public that:
Fire Danger Index (FDI) data is for general awareness only and not guaranteed to be fully accurate.
The responsibility for fire permits and burns lies with the local FPA, not the PFPA.
PFPA assumes no liability for damages related to fire risk data from weather services.

6 September: Page Disclaimer – Community Awareness
The Potchefstroom First Responder Facebook Page issued a formal disclaimer clarifying:
It is not an emergency service.
It serves to provide community awareness and general safety information.
Accuracy is not guaranteed, and users must still contact official emergency services in life-threatening situations.
Comments should remain respectful, with offensive content subject to removal.
9 September: Emergency Location Awareness

Help EMTs, fire teams, and police locate you without delay.
Eliminate confusion over unclear addresses or rural locations.

Residents were encouraged to always send a PIN location when calling for help.

10 September: Crime Prevention & Road Hazard Alert
Remote Jamming Prevention Tip: Potchefstroom First Responders reminded motorists to always manually check that their vehicles are locked, especially during rainy weather or in public parking areas. Remote jammers continue to be a growing threat.
Debris and Bricks Placed Deliberately – MC Roode Road: A recurring issue has been reported on MC Roode Road near the Carletonville turn-off, where rocks are deliberately placed at night.
The image shared shows dust from a vehicle that had already driven over the bricks.
Neighborhood Watch patrols are actively monitoring the area.
Authorities are investigating the matter further.
