WoudWandel 2025: Three Nights, Three Moods and a Whole Lot of Lights

WoudWandel is dusting off the fairy lights again for December 2025, and this year the organisers have decided that one size definitely does not fit all. Instead, they’re offering three different ways to wander the woods, each with its own flavour, focus and crowd. All tickets are online only, so no point pitching up at the gate and hoping for the best.

Below is everything people need to know, laid out clearly so no one gets lost before they even reach the forest.

Dates and What’s On

7 December – One Light. One Night.

This evening is set aside for reflection and worship. The programme centres on Jesus as the “Light of the World”, with a message, music and a calm, meaningful walk through the trees. It is the quieter night on purpose, aimed at those who want something more contemplative before the festive rush begins.

8 to 11 December – Classic WoudWandel Nights

From Monday to Thursday the familiar version of WoudWandel takes over. Visitors can expect the usual mix: festive lights, live music, food stalls, drinks, a kids’ area and the relaxed rhythm regulars have come to enjoy. This is the edition designed for families, friends and anyone who just wants to stroll around, eat something tasty and listen to good music under the trees.

5 December – Exclusive Year-End Night

For those paying attention to the alternative dates, 5 December has been listed as a Year-End night with a slightly different feel from the main run. It leans more towards a once-off festive send-off before the proper programme begins.

Tickets and Pricing

Tickets are available online only and must be bought beforehand. The organisers have made this quite clear, so it’s probably wise to listen.

The gates open every evening at 18:00. As always, everything is weather permitting. The forest may be magical, but even magic has limits in a Highveld thunderstorm.

Plenty of locals know exactly where this is. For newcomers: if you reach a dark patch of road and wonder whether you’ve overshot, keep going a little longer. The glow in the trees usually gives it away.
