Potch Businesses, Get Ready for the Kennel On 8 August 2025, local animal welfare organisation PAWS will once again unleash one of its more unique fundraising events: “Adopt Your Boss”. Set at 2 Viljoen Street in Miederpark, Potchefstroom, this annual event invites you to nominate, detain, and possibly ransom off your boss, all for a good cause. Yes, the rumours are true. It’s that time of year when unsuspecting managers and department heads find themselves locked in a kennel with little more than a folding chair, some banners, and a bit of corporate pride. It’s Not Just for the Workplace Although it's become a hit among local companies, the organisers are keen to stress that it's not exclusively a corporate affair. Friends and family members with a mischievous streak can also nominate someone, as long as they're willing to be ‘adopted’ for a cause. The concept is simple: once locked in, the ‘boss’ is at the mercy of their team, who are encouraged to “adopt” them back through donations. Or not. Some have stayed in there a while, depending on how the office coffee situation’s been that year.
