Hulle het hulself Straatligkinders genoem en het vinnig 'n groot aanhang gekry met hul unieke mengsel van rock, punk en emo. Hul eerste musiekvideo, "Die Beskermer", is in 'n fabriek in Potchefstroom verfilm en het in Januarie 2007 op MK89 verskyn. With temperatures soaring, the lack of consistent water supply added to the discomfort and challenges faced by residents, emphasizing the urgent need for swift resolution of the water crises. Leak on Vyfhoek Asbestos Waterline On Friday, December 6, 2024, a leak was detected on the 450mm Vyfhoek Asbestos Pipe. This critical pipeline supplies water to a wide area on the eastern side of Potchefstroom, including Baillie Park, Vanderhof Park, Tuscany Ridge, Grimbeeck Park, and De Land. To address the issue, the Municipality ordered the necessary materials, promising to commence repairs immediately upon their arrival. While residents awaited these repairs, they were urged to conserve water. Although the leak caused considerable inconvenience, updates from the Municipality indicate that work is ongoing to restore normal supply. This reservoir is a key supplier to the Ikageng extensions, and its depletion left many without water over the weekend. The Municipality deployed water trucks to assist affected areas while awaiting the arrival of a replacement pump, scheduled for installation on Monday, December 9, 2024. However, there remains uncertainty regarding Ikageng's current water situation. A peaceful protest march against gender-based violence (GBV) is currently underway in Potchefstroom today, 2 April 2025. The march was organized in response to a disturbing incident involving the alleged rape of a 7-year-old girl at her school premises. Members of the community have gathered since 09:00 at Cachet Park, moving through Hoffman Street and currently heading towards Meyer Street. The group pasted main entrance of the North-West University (NWU) on Meyer Street. Local law enforcement is present to ensure the protest remains peaceful and orderly. Community members are carrying signs and chanting slogans to demand justice, support survivors, and raise awareness about the seriousness of gender-based violence. The march will proceed down Meyer Street toward Thabo Mbeki Avenue, past the Takealot facility, and is expected to conclude at the Department of Education building on Loop Street. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the affected areas temporarily, including Hoffman Street, Meyer Street, and surrounding routes, as the peaceful demonstration continues.
